Run, Don’t Walk to See McQueen at the Met!
Ok, so it’s NYC and not NJ; but a short jump across the Hudson takes us all to the wonderful world of Manhattan & its museums. I checked out the McQueen Exhibit last weekend and was awed. If you are always fascinated & intrigued by Lady Gaga – you’ll LOVE this exhibit. His fashion collections used themes of gothic romance, history, naturalism & are spectacularly presented with lights, video & music at the Met. McQueen said ,“People find my things sometimes aggressive. But I don’t see it as aggressive. I see it as romantic, dealing with a dark side of personality.” – And that is the theme running throughout the exhibit – the S & M weirdness of “The Cabinet of Curiosities” , The deathly beauty in “The Shipwreck” and the violent nationalism in his “Highland Rape”.
